Parents

History and Purpose
The Youth Exploring Science program established its Parent Advisory Board in November of 2006. This program provided parents of YES teens with an opportunity to play an active role in the future goals and objectives of the YES program. We continue to stand by that commitment with the revamped parents board, YES Parents as Partners. YES Parents as Partners provides parents with a forum where ideas, questions, concerns, and resources are exchanged. The dual partnership between parents and the YES Program will ensure present and future success for our teens and the communities they serve.

In effort to provide your teen with the best experience we have to offer, we areinviting you to participate in a parent advisory board, YES Parents as Partners. YES Parents as Partners will allow parents, guardian, and members of the YES staff to meet on a month to month basis, and will provide the following opportunities:

  • Create a strong working relationship between YES staff and YES parents/guardians
  • Provide parents/guardians with a forum for an exchange of ideas, concerns, questions, answers, and resources
  • Ensure the overall success of the YES program and its participants
Through participationin special events such as New Teen Open House, Parent Orientation and Family Weekend you will be able to further enhance the experience of our teens. Your guidance and presence at these events will help to inform future plans.

YES Parents as Partners meets once a month on the third Saturday of every month at the Taylor Community Science Resource Center. The next meeting of our new session is scheduled for Saturday, December 17th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Daunte Henderson at dhenderson@slsc.org or 314.289.1489.
