YES
Well, today we worked with 5th and 4th graders. I taught the 5th graders with my co-worker Ayeja. it was fun teaching them because it was an activity that they like and that everyone paticipated in. We taught them how to do an activity on space probes. most of them knew but some of them didnt. A space probe is more so like a robot thatcollects information in the solar system from the moon to other planets. The kids made thier on space probe and had to pick thier own planet to collect information from. We used recycled materials, such as bottles, caps, tops, milk cartons, spray bottles, and other paper products that can be recycled. I think that the kids liked this lesson better than anyother lesson because they got to use thier imagination into making thier own. Some of the students used thier creativity and art skills to make thier space probe. I would have to say that space probes is one of my favorite projects to do. Before we did space probes we did an activity called solar system in your pocket. We took a large skinny strip of paper and we also use stickers to label our planets. Solar sysem in your pocket was one of the first things that we did with the student, so when we first asked them if they new anything about the solar system, I was shocked because alot of them knew things that I didnt know. It's always good to learn something from someone younger. yes! that activity might have been boring but you also learned things out of it. Then after solar system in you pocket we let the students make their own poster. They had to pick a planet and read information on that planet then they could put what ever they wanted on thier poster, so that was fun too. They also got to use thier drawing skills on that project. i like working at confluence academy because the kids here really know alot and you could tell that thier teachers really prepared them for coming in our class. the students as well as teachers are also very friendly and if I could stay here for the rest of the summer I would.
