They have learned so much in these few weeks. From my experience i have learned things such as different personalities. and i am so glad that I had the oppurtunity to come and teach here

Working at Confluence Academy

YES
Well, today we worked with 5th and 4th graders. I taught the 5th graders with my co-worker Ayeja. it was fun teaching them because it was an activity that they like and that everyone paticipated in. We taught them how to do an activity on space probes. most of them knew but some of them didnt. A space probe is more so like a robot thatcollects information in the solar system from the moon to other planets. The kids made thier on space probe and had to pick thier own planet to collect information from. We used recycled materials, such as bottles, caps, tops, milk cartons, spray bottles, and other paper products that can be recycled. I think that the kids liked this lesson better than anyother lesson because they got to use thier imagination into making thier own. Some of the students used thier creativity and art skills to make thier space probe. I would have to say that space probes is one of my favorite projects to do. Before we did space probes we did an activity called solar system in your pocket. We took a large skinny strip of paper and we also use stickers to label our planets. Solar sysem in your pocket was one of the first things that we did with the student, so when we first asked them if they new anything about the solar system, I was shocked because alot of them knew things that I didnt know.

Exploring Outside

Biodiversible Teens

Today my group and I explored the outside nature. We went to a variety of gardens. Most of the flowers were dead. We had talk about the gardens being a good habitat for the birds, while discovering different living things and different non-living things. From my point of view some of the gardens that we look at were not places that birds would live in because it was alot of dead flowers, there was no water and it was to human. I think that birds would want to live in a habitat were flower are living and were there are trees. I Know that the gardne may look dead now because we are still in winter moving on to spring. I also think that the gardens can be a habitat for the birds in the futur. Our next project envolves designing a garden that we explored today. We plan on attracking people as well as animals.

Going to the Botanical Gardens

Biodiversible Teens

Today I went to the botanical gardens with the Outdoor Community gardens. it was very fun and adventurous. by looking at the flowers and the plants, you can tell that alot of them were still dead, dbeacuse of he cold temperatures. some of the plants that i saw was a chinese juniper, lambs ears, and a snow drop, also known as the christmas flower. it is called the chriistmas flower because it is white and even though it is the winert and  normaly flowers dont grow as much, this flower grew, it grows ous out of the snow, thats why they call it a snow drop. some of the flowers that i noticed today was the camelia, tasmania tree ferm, baby tears, sheild fern, farfugium, japanese holly fern, begonia, boston fern, sping star-flower, cylomen, rex begonia, and the chocalate flower. i also saw a couple of birds like the robin bird. I saw two ducks, one male and one female. the male ducks are usally green and they have a little black outline. the females are brown, they most likely are bigger than the males.

Pico Design Challenge

Designing Teens
My partner kevin and I designed a kinetic sculpture, twist to the beat. The materials that we used were pipe cleaners, pico cricket, and legos. the fun part about building the design was putting it together and then testing it out. after we put it together we test it out and it worked. the fun part about it working was the the pipe cleaners spinning fast

College Prep and Scans

College Prep | SCANS
over the past week we have been doing scans and college prep and they both help a lot. College Prep helps you get ready for the future and It helps you get prepared. In College prep we always do activities that well help us get ready for the future, for example getting a house, and how much that will cost and and it helps us know how much we need to save up. Last week we worked on scans. We made posters on what we would like to do in the future. I want to be a pharmacist. I had to look up information about my job and I find things that i had to accomplish to get there.
